“Perhaps it is the full moon, or the wind as it whispers through spruce and fir, or the clouds as they curl over Wizard Island, or the stillness of this one starry night that makes it ours for the taking.”
August Night at Crater Lake by Sharon Lask Munson
Crater Laken laidalla oleva saari on nimeltään Wizard Island. Kenties saaren muodolla on siihen osansa, tai kenties sen on joskus ajateltu olevan velhojen koti. Tosiasiassa Wizard Islandin huipulla on toinenkin kraateri nimeltään Witches Cauldron, ja se on syntynyt vasta satoja vuosia suuren tulivuorenpurkauksen jälkeen, jonka seurauksena Crater Lake muodostui.
The island on the edge of Crater Lake is called Wizard Island. Maybe it has something to do with the shape of the island or perhaps they once thought of it as home to the wizards. There is in fact another crater on the top of Wizard Island called Witches Cauldron and it was formed hundreds of years after the the big eruption which created Crater Lake.
