Ja näin, vuosi ja pari kuukautta matkan päättymisen jälkeen on vihdoin aika laittaa tämän road tripin postaukset pakettiin kuvilla tästä uskomattomasta paikasta. Seattlesta pari tuntia pohjoiseen, lähellä Kanadan rajaa sijaitsee vähemmän tunnettu North Cascadesin kansallispuisto. Alue kärsi pahoin metsäpaloista pari vuotta sitten, ja tuhot olivat vielä karvaasti näkyvillä viime vuoden kesäkuussa. Harmikseni palot jylläävät taas Brittiläisen Kolumbian puolella, jonne olenkin matkalla retkeilemään muutaman viikon päästä. Toivoisin kovasti että metsäpalot ja alueella jylläävä kuumuus saataisiin kuriin ennen matkaani, ja että ilmastonmuutoksen kieltäjät ymmärtäisivät vihdoin kuinka vakavasta asiasta on kyse. Seattlessa ei ole nyt satanut liki 50 päivään, joka ei ole alueelle todellakaan normaalia. Toivottavasti kuumuus väistyy pian. And like this, a year and a few months after our trip ended it’s finally time to wrap up our road trip with pictures from this incredible place. A couple of hours north of Seattle, close to the Canadian border, lies the lesser known North Cascades National Park. The area was badly damaged by forest fires a couple of years ago and the devastation of the fires were still bitterly on display in June of last year. To my chagrin the forest fires are ablaze once again over in British Columbia, where I’m supposed to go camping in just a couple of weeks. I would wish for the forest fires and the extreme heat in the area to be under control before I travel and for climate change deniers to realize how grave the situation really is. In Seattle, it hasn’t rained in nearly 50 days now and that just isn’t normal for the region. Hopefully the heat will soon subside. Until then, here are some cool shades and views from the environs of Diablo Lake.
