Vuosi on vaihtunut uuteen. Viime vuonna tuli nähtyä ja koettua niin paljon että välillä ihan hengästyttää ajatella sitä kaikkea. Katson kuvia, ajattelen rakkaita ihmisiä, mahtavia kokemuksia ja tunnen kiitollisuutta. Loppupeleissä se mitä jää käteen on tunteet. Miltä tuntuikaan sillä hetkellä kun saavutin määränpään, vuoren huipun, vastarannan, kun viiletin lumista mäkeä alas, meloin niin että käsivarsia jomotti, nousin kuumaa kalliota aamuvarhain, kastuin sateessa, sukelsin turkoosiin järveen, heräsin lämpimästä makuupussista, halasin rakasta ystävää vaikealla hetkellä, tartuin ylämaan lehmää sarvesta ja muistin kaiken sen mikä tekee elämästä elämisen arvoista. Kiitos universumille kaikesta siitä ihanasta mitä minulla on ja mitä olen vuoden aikana saanut. Ja kiitos kaikille teille lukemattomille ystäville ja reissukavereille. ♥

The year has become anew. Last year I got to see and experience so much that sometimes I feel out of breath just thinking about it all. I look at pictures, think of my loved ones, such wonderful experiences and I feel grateful. Because in the end what you’re left with is the feeling. The feeling of reaching my goal, the mountaintop, the opposite shore; riding down a snowy hill, paddling so that my arms hurt, climbing up a warm rock in the wee hours of morn, getting soaked in the rain, diving into a turquoise lake, waking up in a warm sleeping bag, hugging a dear friend in a trying time, grabbing a highland cow by the horn and remembering everything that makes life worth while. Thank you to the universe for all the things I have and all the things I’ve received in the past year. And thank you to all you countless friends and travel companions. ♥

Here’s a look into last year’s travels!

Swedish Lapland

Maaliskuussa matkasimme Ruotsin Lappiin aktiivilomalle. Riksgränsen, Björkliden ja Abisko tuntuivat heti kovin kotoisilta. Täältä saattaa löytyä vielä muutama tarinanpoikanen.

In March we traveled to Swedish Lapland for a very active holiday. Riksgränsen, Björkliden and Abisko immediately felt like home. There might still be a few stories from Sweden untold.

Lofoten

Meri, vuoret ja turkoosit vedet ovat yhdistelmä joka ei ikinä petä minua. Tämän olen tiennyt jo teini-ikäisestä asti. Lofootit oli henkeäsalpaavan hieno paikka. Joitakin kuvia on vielä postaamatta täältä, joten ne jotka suunnittelevat matkaa asuntoautolla rajanaapuriimme kannattaa pysyä kuulolla kevään mittaan.

The ocean, the mountains and turquoise waters are a combination that never let me down. I’ve known this since I was a teenager. Lofoten was breathtakingly beautiful. I still have some pictures left, so all of you planning an RV adventure to Norway should stay tuned for some more incredible scenery coming up this spring. 

Finland

Kotimaani puhtaus ja turvallisuus eivät koskaan petä. Viime vuonna nautin suunnattomasti merestä, järvistä, metsistä ja luonnossa samoilemisesta. Kesällä vietin luvattoman monta yötä teltassa fiilistellen luonnon rauhaa. Koirakin sai oman tuunatun makuupussin. Kiitos vielä kotimaan reissukavereille, teitä oli monta ihanaa!

My home country’s pureness and safety never fail. Last year I utterly enjoyed the ocean, the lakes, the forests and meanderin in nature. In summer I spent countless nights in a tent just marveling at the peacefulness of nature. Even my dog got her own little sleeping bag. Thanks to all of my friends who came along, you were many!

Canyonlands

Vuoden odotetuin reissu koitti elokuussa kun pakkasimme retkikamppeet kohti kuukauden seikkailua läpi Kalliovuorten, Coloradosta Kanadaan, sieltä Teksasiin ja takaisin Coloradoon. Kaikki reissun postaukset koottuna täällä, ja monen monta tarinaa vielä tulossa. Koska matka jakautui selkeästi pohjoiseen ja etelään on kuvatkin jaettu sen mukaan.

Last year’s most awaited trip started in August when we packed our camping gear for a month-long adventure through the Rocky Mountains. From Colorado to Canada, from Canada to Texas and back to Colorado. All the posts can be found here and more coming soon. Since the trip was clearly divided into north and south, the pictures are grouped accordingly.

 

North

Jenkeissä viehättävät etenkin pohjoisten osavaltioiden luonto, vuoret ja tyhjyys. Tänne tulen aina palaamaan. Kanada oli myös häikäisevän hieno.

In the US I’m especially attracted by the nature, the mountains and the solace of the northern states. Canada was also staggeringly beautiful.

South

Arizona oli ennestään hyvin tuttu, Utah, New Mexico ja Texas vielä tuntemattomia. Etelästä löytyy värejä ja kokemuksia vaikka muille jakaa. Lisää täältä kevään mittaan!

I’ve been to Arizona many times, but Utah, New Mexico and Texas were new and exciting. There are so many colors and experiences to share. Coming up!

Scotland

Enpä tiennyt palatessani edelliseltä kuukauden seikkailulta, että loppuvuosi tulisi pitämään sisällään vielä yhden yllätyksen. Skotlanti oli ollut haaveissani jo tovin, mutta se olikin vielä hienompi kuin olin osannut kuvitellakaan. Haluaisin jo pian lähteä takaisin. Katsotaan mitä tapahtuu!

Little did I know as I returned from the previous monthlong adventure, that there would be one more surprise before the end of year. Scotland had for long been a dream of mine, but it turned out even more dreamy than my imagination. I’m already craving to go back. Let’s see what happens!
